Mayburgh and King Arthur’s' Round Table located on either side of the Ullswater Road just south of Penrith.
Mayburgh contains a massive circular bank with an entrance. It was built with river stones as opposed to excavated materials. Out of the group of four existing stones only one remains. The site was dated via the findings of bronze and stone axes.
The Round Table was probably linked in the early fourteenth-century with Arthurian legends when the Clifford family became the new owners of Brougham Castle. They created the Henge by moving earth from a ditch thus building a three hundred foot diameter circle.
