Abbot Hall Art Gallery – This is one of the best art galleries in the north west of England, located on the banks of the River Kent. The gallery is housed in a beautiful Georgian villa, with the exhibits set in elegant Georgian rooms of classical proportions.

The gallery’s permanent collection contains 18th century paintings in their period setting, with furniture and objects d’art of the time alongside them. Other collections include: 19th century water colours, 20th century paintings and sculptures, as well as arts & crafts and 20th century studio pottery.
