St Andrew (Crosby Garrett) ( Churches )

To reach the village requires careful navigation along narrow country lanes. The effort is well rewarded by a delightful and interesting church with a superb hilltop location giving stunning views in every direction.

The hill known as Arklow, which means "a place for sacrifice" and some stonework and part of an original Saxon arch over the chancel show that this place dates from the tenth or eleventh century.

Decorated Normal columns face the entrace and there is much to discover: a fourteenth-century priest's door, a medieval aumbry or communion cupboard, a hagioscope or "squint hole" and a thirteenth-century piscina.
