This is the old church, the newer one stands on the main A591 adjacent to the village.
St Bega's stands almost 3km south of the village by the lake and is reached by a minor road, which is signposted, and then a track across fields from the road.
For directions, stop at Dodd car park on the main road and ask at Dodd sawmill. It is a Norman church with a crooked chancel arch.
This is a beautiful and peaceful place, where it is said Tennyson composed the lines in Morte d'Arthur which tells of the sword Excalibur being cast into the water.
