Situated at the head of the valley amidst the network of stone walls which enclose the fields, this church is probably sixteenth-century; some of the beams are said to come from a Viking longship.
The dedication to St Olaf is recent. With seating for only thirty-nine, this is one of the smallest churches in England.
Wasdale Head is one of the places where modern rock-climbing began and there are climbers' graves in the churchyard.
