John Ruskin ( Famous People )

John Ruskin – John Ruskin was born on the 8th of February 1819. He was a poet, artist, critic, social revolutionary and conservationist.

He fell in love with the Lake District on his first visit to Keswick in 1824 when he was 5 years old. He continued to spend holidays in the Lake District throughout his life and in 1871 he bought Brantwood near Coniston.

He had a great involvement in the conservation of the Lake District after meeting Hardwicke Rawnsley and Octavia Hill, who were the founders of the National Trust in 1896.

John Ruskin was one of the greatest figures of the Victorian Age.
