William Wordsworth – William Wordsworth was born on the 7th of April 1770 in Cockermouth. William Wordsworth spent much of his life living in the Lake District, staying in Grasmere, Keswick and Rydal Mount.
He is one of the most famous of all the Lake Poets and a lot of the Lake Districts popularity has had to do with the area’s connections to him.
Wordsworth, along with his poetry, is also famous for the extensive role he played in the development of the Lake District.
William Wordsworth died on the 23rd of April 1850, and his tombstone in the Churchyard of St Oswald’s Church is one of the most visited literary shrines in the world.
