Castlerigg Stone Circles – This monument is located in Keswick and is one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in Britain, and it is the most visited stone circle in Cumbria.
There are 38 stones in a circle, which is about 30 metres in diameter.
Inside the ring there is a rectangle of another 10 standing stones. The circle was built around 3000 BC and is one of the earliest stone circles in Britain.
The circle’s construction contains significant astrological alignments.
