Rydal Mount and Gardens – Located in Rydal, Ambelside, between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water this was the most beloved home of William Wordsworth.

He lived here from 1813 to 1850 and wrote a number of his best works while living here. Visitors are permitted to walk through the house to get a glimpse at how the poet lived.

The beautiful gardens that were landscaped by Wordsworth are also open to the public and are well worth exploring.

There’s also a souvenir shop on the site, which sells a range of books and gifts.
