Derwentwater – This is the widest lake in Cumbria, with the market town of Keswick on its northern shore.

Most of the land next to the shoreline of the lake belongs to the National Trust with a number of walking trails through the woods and along the shoreline.

The lake has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest in order to protect the rare species of wildlife that inhabit the area.
