Grasmere Lake – This small lake was made famous in the 19th century by William Wordsworth and his Romantic contemporaries, and has inspired generations of poets and painters ever since.
Grasmere Lake is located to the south of Grasmere village, which is the place to go and take a look at traditional Lakeland life.
Grasmere is also the best base for mountaineers who want to ascend the nearby Helvellyn range, Fairfield and Dollywagon Pike.
