Helena Thompson Museum situated in Parkend House, Workington.
This museum displays potter, silver, glass and furniture covering the Georgian, Victorian and Regency eras as well as ladies and children’s clothing and accessories between the eighteenth and twentieth-centuries.
There is a section covering shipbuilding, coal mining and iron and steel making in Workington. The museum also houses a model of Workington Hall, which was the ancient seat of the Curwen family built around the fourteenth-century pele tower.
This is where Mary Queen of Scots had her last night of freedom in 1568 after running away from Scotland across the Solway Firth.
