Kendal Museum of Natural History and Archaeology ( Museums )

Kendal Museum of Natural History and Archaeology is situated on Station Road, Kendal.

This is one of Britain’s oldest museums dating back to 1796. The museum has won many awards for its wonderful displays.

Alfred Wainwright was an honorary curator for many years in the museum.

There is an excellent exhibit which is used to show habitats from the Lake District mountain tops to sea level.

There is also an exhibit that shows the development of the area from prehistoric times right through to the Roman occupation of the area up until the town of Kendal ended up being a busy centre in the middle ages trading in wool.
