Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry is situated at Abbot Hall, Kendal.
This museum provides a brilliant introduction to the Lake District National Park and its heritage. View an old Victorian street complete with Chemist and Market.
Discover the lost crafts and trades of Cumbria and the ways of life and how it used to be covering weavers, farmers, printers and miners. The museum also covers some of the children’s writers such as Arthur Ransome and John Cunliffe.
You will be able to view Arthur Ransome’s typewriter which he used to produce Swallows and Amazons. In the John Cunliffe room, children will be pleased to see a real-life version of the Lake District valley that later became the home to Postman Pat.
