Ambleside – The town of Ambleside is one of the top destinations in the heart of the Lake District, located at the head of Windermere Lake.
This lively market town has everything on offer to please a vistor’s every need, from the large number of shops offering goods for walkers and climbers, to the many drinking and eating establishments.
Throughout history, Ambleside has always been an important area of the centre of the Lake District. The town originally contained the Roman Fort Galava. There are a number of attractions located throughout the town, including the famous 17th century Bridge House, the Ambleside Museum, and St. Mary's Church dating back to 1854.
There are also a number of activities on offer from bowls and tennis, through to nature walks. Ambleside is one of the most popular towns in the Lake District.
