Backbarrow – This picturesque little village is located in a quiet nook by the River Leven just off the A590. Back in the 18th century Backbarrow was the home to famous flat iron workers like Isaac Wilkinson.
New life has been brought to the area with the development of Whitewater Village, which offers a wide range of facilities and activities to entertain people of all ages. The area around Backbarrow has a rich history and tradition of the cotton and flax mills.
Backbarrow is located on the edge of the Lake District and makes for an excellent starting point to a holiday discovering the Lake District.
