Glenridding ( Towns & Villages )

Glenridding – Glenridding is located on the south western shore of Ullswater, a short drive from Ambleside along the Kirkstone Pass.

The village has a beautiful setting and is surrounded by mountains on three sides, which make the village a popular base for fell walkers that want to explore Helvellyn, Fairfield and Place Fell.

Glenridding was once a mining village with iron ore being mined nearby from the mid 17th century. Today tourism is the village’s main industry, with a number of pubs, inns, shops, as well as a wide range of accommodation available, which include some excellent guest houses.

Glenridding is a popular destination amongst visitors looking cycle, climb, walk or take a cruise on Ullswater on one of the old steamers that date back to the late 19th century.

Located 5 miles from Glenridding is Aira Force, which one of the most famous waterfalls in the Lake District.
