Grasmere ( Towns & Villages )

Grasmere – This beautiful Lake District village dates back to Norse times and used to be an important centre for sheep farming.

Grasmere is most famous as the home of William Wordsworth. The village is situated next to Grasmere Lake and most of the buildings date back to the 19th and 20th centuries.

One of Grasmere’s main attractions is the Church of St. Oswald's, which dates back to the 13th century and is the final resting place of William Wordsworth.

Other attractions in the village include the Wordsworth Museum, Wordsworth’s former home Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount.
