Kendal – Kendal is an ancient market town located on the River Kent and was granted a market charter in 1189, and today is a lively town beauty, culture and history.
There are a number of attractions in Kendal; its top attraction is the 13th century Church of Holy Trinity replete with its 19th century copy of the ancient Celtic Iron cross erected by the first Christians of Kendal.
Other attractions include the ruins of the 12th century Kendal Castle, Abbot Hall dating back to 1759 and the baroque styled Town Hall dating back to 1825.
The Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry and the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology exhibit Kendal's history and Lakeland life from ancient to modern times.
The Brewery Arts Centre offers a lively cultural life with films and theatrical pieces and a regular gallery of exhibitions.
Kendal has many shops, eating and drinking establishments, and excellent cultural and historical attractions.
