Patterdale – The village of Patterdale is located along the A592 a mile south from Ulswater and Glenridding, at the base of Grizedale.
Patterdale is another small Lakeland village and consists of a Post Office that doubles up as a general store, a church, a pub called the White Lion which also has accommodation available, and a hotel called The Patterdale Hotel.
The village is also home to the Mountain Rescue who provide rescue services throughout the year. One of the village’s top attractions is the 17th century Patterdale Hall, which was once the home of John Mounsey, the King of Patterdale as he was called.
There are a number of popular walks around Patterdale and tends to get quite busy during the summer months. The trail to Helvellyn via Sridding Edge is one of the Lake District’s classic walks for strong walkers.
Breathtaking views over the valley can be taken in by Fairfield and St Sunday Crag and are well worth the hike. Grizedale offers access to an excellent valley hike up to Grizedale Tarn.
There are also a large number of low level walks available including the wonderful walk from Howtown to Glenridding.
Just south of Patterdale at the top of Kirkstone Pass is the Kirkstone Pass Inn, which is the highest public house in England.
With so much to offer Patterdale makes for an excellent destination for an unforgettable Lakeland holiday.
